What should I do if I cannot access a database or article?
Answer
-
Start at the library website: Don't go directly to a database company's website. Always start your search from the Library's website to ensure you're logged in correctly.
-
Clear your browser: Get rid of old data by clearing your browser's cache and cookies. This solves a lot of common issues.
-
Try another browser: If Chrome isn't working, try a different browser like Firefox or Safari to see if that helps.
-
Wait a bit: Sometimes a database has too many users at once. If you can't get in, wait a few minutes and try again.
-
Check your Wi-Fi: Some public networks might have firewalls that block access. If you're using a public Wi-Fi, try switching to a different one if you can.
If none of that works, it's time to call for backup! Contact the Library Ask Us Service or email us libref@jjay.cuny.edu. To help us fix it fast, tell us:
-
The name of the database.
-
If you're on or off campus.
-
The browser and operating system you're using.
-
A screenshot of any error messages.
